Hospices of Beaune

Two French charitable hospitals that have been gifted some of the most famous vineyards in Burgundy since 1443.

This year's wines are sold at a sale while they are still in the barrel, and in our case it is Domaine Albert Sounit which is owned by Danish Knud Kjellerup.

Knud Kjellerup

A Danish man who owns a wine chateau in Rully, one of the communes of Côte Chalonnaise in the southern part of Burgundy. He is particularly known for his great white wines and champagne-like sparkling wines, and he has bought 2 barrels at auction from Hospice de Beaune, which he himself has matured, bottled and given the traditional label, as well as noting both him or her who donated the wine to the Hospice, the Hospice de Beaune itself who auctioned off the wines, and of course himself who made the wines.

Beaune 1st Cru

In the same town as the hospice itself are many well-regarded vineyards, and 1st Cru means it is from some of the best, and that all the grapes for the wine come from a single field of incredibly high status. Therefore, the grapes are valued at high prices, and they make some elegant and light red wines from pure Pinot Noir.

Corton Grand Cru

In the first commune you drive down to when you reach the Côte-de-Beaune district, you will find one of Burgundy's few Grand Cru vineyards. These are vineyards of the highest status and prestige.

They are often difficult to obtain and at staggeringly high prices.

Corton is among the most feminine and finesse-filled wines from the Pinot Noir grape, the perfect gift for the wine lover who has everything, and made in very few bottles only for Falsled Kro!
